Laminated Glass

Product Introduction

1. Colored laminated glass, also known as colored laminated safety glass, is a building material with unique aesthetics and practicality. It is composed of two or more pieces of float glass with a strong PVB (vinyl butyrate) film in the middle. After being pressed by a hot press and exhausting the air in the middle as much as possible, it is placed in a high-pressure steam engine to use high temperature and high pressure to dissolve the remaining small amount of air into the film, thus forming colored laminated glass. In addition to PVB film, its commonly used intermediate films include EVA, PU polyurethane, etc.

2. The nominal thickness of the film is 0.38 mm, but it can be made into many times this thickness as needed. Therefore, nominal thicknesses such as 0.38 mm, 0.76 mm, 1.14 mm, and 1.52 mm can be provided.

Production Steps As Follows

1. Material selection Select high-quality glass sheets and select the required thickness according to requirements.

2. Glass cutting Precise cutting to ensure cutting quality and accuracy

3. Glass edge grinding Fine grinding, edge grinding of cut glass to eliminate sharp edges and fine cracks, improve the smoothness of the edge.

4. Washing and drying Wash the edged glass to remove dust, oil and impurities on the surface to ensure subsequent bonding. Drying is required after washing to prevent moisture from affecting subsequent processing.

5. Tempering The principle is to form a layer of compressive stress on the surface of the glass to prevent the glass from breaking, so as to improve the strength of the glass, and better resist breaking. Even if it breaks, it is small particles, which greatly reduces the possibility of injury.

6. Lamination and pressing After cleaning, the glass and the film are laminated, initially pressed, and firmly bonded together with high pressure and strong bonding to ensure the quality and transparent effect.

In summary, the production of colored laminated glass requires multiple delicate steps and links, and each step requires strict control of quality and process parameters to ensure the performance and quality of the final product.

Colored Laminated Glass

Nowadays, colored laminated safety glass is often used to replace body tinted glass made of colored slurry. Instead of treating the glass itself, the color is introduced by bonding a colored film between two layers of glass.

The composite material of glass, film and glass behaves like conventional laminated safety glass, because PVB is the raw material for extruding the colored film. Therefore, more than a thousand transparent, translucent and opaque colors can be produced from eleven basic colors.

FAQ

Q:What are the available thickness options for laminated glass?

A:The thickness of laminated glass is usually from 6mm to 40mm, depending on the application requirements. Common combinations include:

3mm glass + 0.38mm PVB film + 3mm glass

6mm glass + 1.52mm PVB film + 6mm glass

Thicker or thinner combinations can be chosen according to the intended use.

Q:What is the difference between laminated glass and tempered glass?

A:Laminated glass: When broken, the fragments adhere to the film, making it more suitable for places that require protection and sound insulation.

Tempered glass: High in strength, it breaks into small particles, but does not have the function of the interlayer film. Laminated glass can be combined with tempered glass to form a product with higher performance.
